Banner Art
This page will document the different images I’m creating for the main banner at the top of the blog. Since I’ve gotten several comments about them, I thought I’d create a place to document them all and explain where they were taken (if it isn’t obvious). I will update this page as I create new banners along our journey.
Clicking on the image on this page will bring up a larger version. Enjoy.
New York
This is the downtown skyline shot from the top of the Empire State Building. I used a fairly large lens to create the effect of “flattening” the perspective.
Kids with Big Ben
Pretty self explanatory…
Windsor Castle
This is a shot of part of Windsor Castle I thought was pretty cool and very “London” with the streetlamp in the foreground. A little digital trickery gives it a bit of a surreal feel.
Beach Chairs
This was a beautiful day on Brighton Beach. I give Sharon credit for seeing the potential of this shot and first taking it with her camera. This final, however, is from my camera as we discovered – in image quality, clarity and color – some justification for the difference in the price of hers (a pocket digital) and mine (a Nikon D40x).
The Louvre
I thought this shot looked cool because the reflection through the glass pyramid hitting the main building almost looks like a flock of ghostly birds dancing by. Again, a bit of digital manipulation enhances the “feel” of the image.
Sacre Cour
This is a shot of the famous church on the hill from all the way across Paris. I noticed it as we were walking through the Musee D’Orsay and shot it through the window (by the Van Gogh exhibit). Of course, I put an “antique” feel on it…so don’t look too close or you’ll see the jumbo jet taking off from CDG…
Provence
This is actually just out the back of our B&B near Uzes in Provence. I took it at sunset the first night we were there and thought it captured the feel pretty well.
Stonehenge
Doesn’t need much of a description…
Kids in Nice
I love this shot of Allison as she’s running up the beach towards me because of the sheer joy it reveals on her face.
Michael was trying to position himself right where the waves would break on him. He got it just right on this one.
