Athens
Our final stop in Greece was a day and a half in Athens. It is a huge city but not as crowded or hustle-bustle as I had feared. We saw most of the main archeological sites (Acropolis, Agora, Temple of Zeus) in the downtown area as well as did a bit of strolling through the “Plaka” – the neighborhood just below the Acropolis.
Unfortunately, most of the main buildings up on the Acropolis are under restoration and, therefore, obstructed by a bunch of scaffolding. That really takes away from the awe and “ancient-ness” as well as eliminates any really good photo opportunities. But, I’m glad we got to see them at least.
What pictures we did get can be seen here.
