Yesterday was Michael’s 11th birthday.  We cooked burgers out on the grill in the back yard of our townhouse here in Managgio, Italy on Lake Como.  Here’s the view from where we cooked and ate the burgers:

This is truly one of the beautiful parts of the world.

Michael, for his birthday chose for us to cook out instead of go out and we had a great time.  Afterwards, we went down to town,  ate an ice cream cone by the lake and then played putt-putt until 10pm.  With the slight exception of Allison swinging her club a bit far and whacking Mommy in the nose (she’s very tender, but okay) it was a perfect evening.

For the actual meal, I made Michael a special burger:
